Public Library of New London to Hold Literary Speed-Dating Event

Friend Speed Dating is a low-key social event designed to help new adults make new friends. Every attendee spends two minutes talking with each of the other attendees; the “matching” period is followed by time for coffee and a casual activity, like card-making. The importance of reference services is reflected in the library and information science LIS curriculum, but it is often overlooked in continuing education opportunities for librarians. For many working librarians, this can feel rote and ineffectual. After all, they already learned this in school.
